Girls on Key Press was established in 2017 to champion the voices of women and gender diverse poets.

We are currently CLOSED for submissions but if you have read at a Girls on Key event or are a First Nations poet, you can submit to our anthology, Shoot the Breeze here.
What we offer
Each poet receives:

One month of editorial guidance with an experienced, professional editor (we have POC and gender diverse editors on request)

What we are looking for
We are after:

Poets who identify as emerging or mid career (i.e. you have not published more than one collection of poetry, either self-published or commercially)

Collections of 100 pages minimum

Women poets and poets of diverse genders. CALD and First nations poets are encouraged to submit

Original poetry in any style and on any topic that moves us and language that delights and surprises, avoiding cliche.

Please note that we are not accepting lyric (rhyming) poetry, children's poetry or concrete poetry at this time.

Complete the form below in the open submission period

Include a manuscript formatted in A4, Times New Roman (do not include images - we are not accepting illustrated manuscripts at this time.)
Please note, we do not provide editorial feedback on submitted manuscripts that are not selected. We will contact all applicants after the submission period has ended.
Pay What you Feel
We believe that publishing poetry should be accessible to everyone. We work on a pay what you feel model. When nominating a price, make sure you look at what we offer and take that into consideration. We are volunteer run, so payment enables us to offer more services and to employ proof readers and editors at reasonable rates.
